What do you call a man who has smooth
brown skin, stands about 6'2” tall, with an intoxicating speaking
voice, but can rap his ass off? We call him: Filthy Rich. We had the
opportunity to catch up with the talented rapper who, by the way, is
also a DJ; at Future Images Model Call.
Like most artists you meet in Atlanta Filthy Rich actually hails
from Wilingborough, NJ. To the average southern, that means his back
in the day stomping grounds was Philly and south Jersey, i.e.,
Camden & Trenton. He is a suburbanite. Most suburbs are offspring of
the hood. They house the same junkies and street thugs that inner
city has because they have migrated to the suburbs. Here's what Rich
had to share with Urban Iconz.

UI: We're here with J-Trx; R&B artist of Rise 'N Grind Records.
Hey J-Trx! How are you doing today?
JTX: What it do, baby! You gotta know what it is man.
UI: J-Trx, what kind of artist are you? An R&B artist? Hip hop
artist? What do you feel you classify as?
JTX: I feel, I classify myself as a Popular artist. Not Pop, not
R&B, not Hip Hop, not Rap or Rock, but Popular. Really, going
back to what my name represents, I feel like I touch every style
of music, every genre of music, every crowd, every person that
has a certain emotion or feeling of what they wanna hear out of
a song or out of a record, whether it be as an artist or as a
producer. So I would consider myself a Popular artist in
whatever genre of music that you feel that you take from
whatever I'm making.

Ghost Riders
Entertainment started off as a management company that developed
into a marketing company. Before I knew it I started doing a lot
of consulting. I'm good at looking at something and figuring out
how to make it real to everybody else. Such as the Shaker
situation; when I got there they just really didn't know what to
do with the place. So I incorporated the Friday part now I'm
working on the Tuesday Open Mic I'm good at do things like that.
Photo shoots I can run them. I can hear music and know how you
should pushing it. As London of Purple Ribbon; tells me I'm a
strong creative mind and I'm a calculator, because I calculate
everything. In addition to Ghost Riders, Greg took me in and I
have Vice Presidency of his company, which give me more power in
the industry.

Judge: Right
now I have Dirt Law Radio; Dirt Law Radio is a spin off of my
popular Dirt La mix cd series. It's been 14 volumes of that in
addition to that the special edition Dirt Laws. The Mix Show
spun off from that, currently it's airing on four stations in
Macon, GA, Colombia, SC, Montgomery, Al, also on my internet
site and a station in London just pick it up, starting this
week. That's the mix and it's heading towards syndication.
Judge: Lol, That's a question I always pause at because I've
been in the game for a long time. I started djing early in about
88. Started radio in 90, doing the over night shift at a college
station. Then I move from there to regular shift then ended up
being the general manger of that station. That's when I started
doing programming before that, I did the programming of a hip
hop show, and the programming of the whole station all different
kinds of formats. Went from there to commercial station WIKS FM,
KISS 102 in North Carolina where I was living at, at the time.
I've been in and out of radio since about '90.-

Every good company needs a great leader. Skinnymen Productions is a
multi-media edutainment company founded in 1997 by Hip Hop mogul
Hotep a.ka. Hustle Simmons. Hotep is an educator, visionary,
entrepreneur, motivational speaker, therefore, an Urban Icon.
How many people do you know that can
“do it all” in the entertainment industry? When I first met Hotep he
was about to release his first movie, “Independent Doin’ Major
Things” fall 2005. The title alone sums up his life. Like most men
he started as a rapper, then a producer and then a manager; till
wearing all those hats and a few more, Hotep IS a Hustler.

Why “Hustle or
Kill Ya Self ?” some will ask. Fair question, and here's the
fair answer- 'cause that's the ANTHEM!! I truly believe that if
you're not on this planet providing products and/or service to
your fellow man; if you're one of the many artists,
entrepreneurs, or even employees- who walk around feeling like
the world owes you something because you're so great- you're
dying slow anyway. I said it before, and I'll say it again, the
feeling of entitlement is a sure path to homelessness, divorce,
and/or all-around unhappiness- I guarantee it. I guarantee that
if you don't seek to become valuable in some way to the people
you value - you WILL end up a loser in your own personal hell.
And hey, if that's the life path you're choosing for yourself,
you might as well…
